Family Violence An
overview of child abuse, domestic violence, elder abuse and the programs designed to prevent and treat family violence. Child abuse, domestic
violence and elder abuse are usually hidden within
the family. Once the silence is broken, fear, beliefs about family, and
misconceptions about abusers and their victims cause many
well-intentioned laws and social programs to fail to protect victims of
abuse. | |
Great Medical Discoveries: Insulin The discovery of insulin transformed diabetes from a feared and deadly
disease to a manageable one. Yet insulin was not easily discovered. It
took a pair of young Canadian scientists one remarkable summer to
succeed where so many had failed. Today, researchers build on their
work drawing ever closer to a cure for diabetes. | |

A Multitude of Hats
Janice wears many hats. She's a wife, mother, author of children's books, public health professional, and just a bit nuts. Somehow she's managed to assist state and local health departments develop childhood injury prevention programs, serves as the Regional Advisor for the San Diego Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, mentors upcoming authors, provides copy editing and proofreading services for a variety of organizations, and works as a freelance writer. Sadly, although she loves crafts, she's not at all artistic and her singing voice is best saved for the shower. Still she's interested and involved in many things and this website reflects some of her interests.
Please feel free to poke into the corners that interest you and avoid the others. Most of all, make yourself at home and thanks for visiting.
